Critical Discourse Analysis of American Ideology Towards Qatar Isolation in Selected USA Editorials

This study investigates the representation of Qatar isolation by Arab Quartet in selected USA editorials, i.e., it is represented positively or negatively. Those editorials involve The New York Times, Washington Post and Wall Street Journal. It explores role moulding, shaping reshaping ideology. tries to find out hidden ideologies discourse these editorials. follows a multidisciplinary approach CDA starting with an overview shedding light on its roots, critical meaning, focuses theory ideology giving definitions, history, structure forms, as well mechanisms through which works. present adopts eclectic model van Dijk (1991) Fairclough (1989) deploys linguistically three different tools analyze (56) texts These include syntactic modality, semantic presupposition stylistic hyperbole.
 results reveal that negatively rather than positively, means editors view U.S one group opposite indicates underlying ideological reverberations such hegemony, dominance superiority. also verifies Dijk’s Fairclough’ powerful tool within mechanisms.
